QUALITY LOOSE LEAF TEAS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE
Althought there are thousands of different kinds of tea ( each with their own individual taste and aroma) all true tea comes from the same plant, called Camellia Sinensis. To make sense of all the variations, true teas are categorized into 5 major groups:
Black, Oolong, Green, White and Pu-erh.
Generally, these categories refer to how the leaf is processed. After picking, fresh tealeaves are rolled ( by hand or machine) in order to crack the surface so that oxygen will react with the leaf enzymes. This natural process, called oxidation, changes both the color and flavor of the tea. By selectively exposing the tealeaves to oxygen, tea producers can bring out certain flavors and aromas. The level of oxidation will determine many of the tea's flavor and characteristics as well as whether the tea will be categorized as Black, Oolong, Green, White and Pu-erh.

Tea & Me
Tea found me years ago while I had a small yoga studio in Pembroke Pines, Florida called Yoga Journeys. I had the vision to add a tea bar to the studio to provide a space for guests and clients to linger after class, chatting and sharing space together. That vision did not manifest at that time, what did manifest later was desired to become a Tea Sommelier and learn about the history and culture of tea. One aspect of tea that fascinates me is how different cultures honor and celebrate tea in different ways. The unifying theme is mindfulness and honoring of the plant through the tea ceremonies where life comes full circle. The water that nourishes the soil, that nourishes the plant, the sun, the people who care for the plant, and the coming together and taking in of the prana of the plant at a tea ceremony.
Robin's House of tea was born after returning from a trip from Spain, during a life changing pilgrimage experience while walking El Camino de Santiago. I fell in love with farmer market culture and my next vision became clear. I was moved to re-create that experience back home and soon after my return, Lola's Market in Wilton Manors came into being and I was able to find a space for this vision to unfold.
Since then Robin's House of Tea has become more than a tea house, it has become a place of healing through tea medicine and other healing tools. I can't wait to share my tea with you.
